Walkway Over the Hudson & Lunch at Culinary Institute of America (CIA)

Enjoy breathtaking, unobstructed 360 degree views of the Hudson River and surrounding valley from 212 feet above the Hudson River along the historic Walkway over the Hudson, a turn of the century railroad bridge converted to a pedestrian bridge.  The walk is preceded by lunch at the renowned Culinary of Institute (CIA) which focuses on regional and seasonal entrees, offering contemporary and traditional dishes. The excursion will be lead by NYSDOT Region 8 Structures Engineer, Mr. Paul Tirums.

Hudson River Cruise & Afternoon Cocktails along Newburgh Riverfront

Cruise the beautiful Hudson River on an authentic Mississippi paddle steamer and enjoy breathtaking sights along the way.  Your two-hour boat cruise starts at the historic Newburgh waterfront and heads south with a narrated tour of significant sites including Bannerman’s Island, Catskill Aqueduct and West Point.  The cruise is preceded by time on your own to explore the historic waterfront and enjoy an afternoon cocktail at one of the many wonderful restaurants. The excursion will be lead by NYSDOT Region 8 Environmental Specialist Ms. Jenai Rohllf.

West Point Tour & Lunch at Thayer Hotel

Maximum Participation:  Will be based on demand received during registration.

Combined, 1 ½ hour, bus and walking tour of West Point is narrated by a private guide who tells the story of West Point, its role in the Revolution, its famous history, along with stories about graduates that shaped our nation.  The tour stops at the Cadet Chapel, the Cadet academic area and Trophy Point with the million-dollar view of the Hudson River. The tour is followed by lunch at the historic Thayer Hotel restaurant optional, cost not included, which opened in 1926 and visited by past U.S. Presidents, International leaders and celebrities.  The excursion will be lead by retired NYSDOT Regional Director Ms. Barbara Mattice.

Bear Mountain State Park Morning Hike and Lunch at Historic Lodge

Maximum Participation:  30 people

Enjoy a 4 mile, 3-hour morning hike in Bear Mountain State Park along the Bear Mountain Loop trail, including a small section of the renowned Appalachian Trail.  The loop is considered moderately strenuous and passes along several panoramic viewpoints as you make your way up and down the mountain top. The hike is followed by lunch at the historic Bear Mountain Lodge, built in 1915 in the historic Adirondack aesthetic with a soaring ceiling, extraordinary woodwork, massive stone fireplace and views from every window.  The excursion is lead by NYSDOT Principal Engineering Technician Mr. Thomas Derosa.

Woodbury Common Premium Outlet

Maximum Participation:  30 people

Spend the day shopping and dining, at your own pace, at the internationally visited Woodbury Common Premium Outlet.  Shoppers will be personally greeted and receive a VIP welcome bag filled with exclusive offers. A map of the outlet and list of stores will be provided to each shopper before the trip to help plan your day.  The excursion will be lead by NYSDOT Planning & Program Manager, Ms. Sandra Jobson.

Historic Hudson Valley Tour

Maximum Participation: 30 people

Visit historic Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate, and Washington Irving’s Sunnyside all in one day. Lunch will be available (but not included)  at a local restaurant. The excursion includes a tour of Kykuit, home to four generations of the Rockefeller family beginning with philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, founder of Standard Oil. Trip also includes a tour of Washington Irving “Founding Father of American Literature” home Sunnyside, a romantic, picturesque estate nestled along the Hudson riverbank.  The excursion will be lead by retired NYSDOT Transportation Manager Mr. Richard Dillmann.
